2. Take Things Offline and Gain Trust in Affiliate Marketing

The following is what Mike Allen of Shopping-Bargains.com had to say in response the the question, What is wrong with affiliate marketing and how can it be improved?

Affiliate Marketing is a powerful tool that creates a win-win situation for online merchants and webmasters. However, with most good things, there are some potential problems if relationships are not handled prudently.

These potential problems do not doom Affiliate Marketing to failure but do require a little extra dedication and attention to overcome.

Perhaps the largest potential problem of affiliate marketing is caused in part by the remote nature of the affiliate marketing relationship between merchant and webmaster.

Remote or distant relationships inevitably require trust. While figures don't lie, liars do figure. The affiliate marketing system performs only as well as the depth of trust that exists.

3. Affiliate Tip - Stop Traffic Leaks

If you own your own domain, there are some common typos that can be stripping traffic from your site.

When people are typing in your domain(s), it's common for them to only type two W's or an extra W before the dot. And there are also plenty of folks that type the three W's, but accidentally don't type a dot before the domain name.

Here are examples of what I mean...

Two W's: ww.affiliatetip.com

Four W's: wwww.affiliatetip.com

No Dot After the W's: wwwaffiliatetip.com

4. Affiliate Marketing Pioneer, Corey Rudl, Dies in Car Crash

According to the Associated Press last Friday, "Two men were killed when their car crashed and caught fire at the California Speedway, authorities said.

Benjamin Miles Keaton, 39, and his passenger, Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34, both of La Jolla, died Thursday when Keaton's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT left the track and slammed into a barrier. The engine compartment then caught fire, according to a sheriff's report.

Rudl was pronounced dead at the scene. Keaton was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he died about an hour later, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

The accident occurred while the track was being rented by the San Diego chapter of the Ferrari Owners Club.

The men are the fourth and fifth fatalities at California Speedway since it opened in 1997."

Corey had long been a mainstay in the affiliate marketing space with his Internet Marketing Center.

In addition to being a frequent speaker at marketing events, Corey put out a number of software programs for marketers, including AssocTrac, which powered affiliate programs.

I had the privilege of introducing him when he spoke at Affiliate Force back in March 2000 in Miami, and he was quite a dynamic speaker.

RIP Corey.

5. Affiliate Tip - Buy Domain Typos

You spend a lot of time driving traffic to your site, but due to human error, some of that traffic is not making it to your site. One of the reasons for this is that people are making typos when they key your domain into their browser.

According to Google, 10% of all of their search engine queries contain misspellings. I know I often make a mistake when my fingers blaze across the keyboard a bit too fast.

There is an easy and relatively inexpensive solution to this problem. You can buy versions of your domain that visitors are likely to spell as a typo. There is a domain typo tool that will assist you in creating a list of domains to consider purchasing.
