1. What's New with the Program?

Apply to the Trilegiant Affiliate ProgramLast month, the most effective banner was promoting Trilegiant's Travelers Advantage membership club, and this month, Great Fun is the top performer.

The button for Great Fun that includes a Circuit City gift card has had an EPC on CJ of $33.33 so far this month. Overall, the 120x90 banners are performing better than any other size banner.

Try them out on your site or in your newsletter. If you'd like me to write some copy (let me know how many words) or you need anything else, feel free to contact me.

2. Affiliate Marketing is a Beautiful Thing

The following is what Tracy Allen had to say in response the the question, What is wrong with affiliate marketing and how can it be improved?

There isn't anything wrong with affiliate marketing!

I laughed out loud when you talked about being met with "blank stares"!

Most people don't know what it is and therefore it makes it a little more difficult to learn the best ways to be an affiliate marketer but that's the beauty in it for me.

I feel as though I'm on the ground floor of a wonderful opportunity.

Today was the first time I made it a point to shop Wal-Mart for the bulk of my groceries. Who knew that someday that would be possible?

3. Affiliate Tip - Subscribers for Your Blog

More and more affiliates are using blogs to promote their affiliate links. Conventional wisdom is that blogs should be syndicated by RSS (Really Simple Syndication).

RSS enables folks interested in your site to subscribe to your RSS feed and read your posts through the RSS reader of their choice. But this assumes everybody knows how and where to get an RSS reader.

The reality is that RSS readers are not fully adopted just yet. According to a survey conducted by BlogAds, 72.4% of people never read blogs via RSS. That number will surely shift, but it still has a ways to go.

4. Celebrity Affiliate, Wil Wheaton, Pre-Releases Audiobook

Last year, I was poking around at BlogAds in search of some targeted blogs to place ads for affiliate recruiting.

As I was looking for some good prospects, I came upon WilWheaton.net. I was thinking - this guy looks familiar - who is he?

His site jogged my memory that he was Gordie Lachance in Stand By Me, as well as one of the guys in the under-rated flick, Toy Soldiers.

Trekkies know him better as Ensign Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. But I came to know him for being a really funny, entertaining, and candid blogger.

Based on Wil's blog, I ran out (well actually, went to Amazon) and got his autobigraphical book, Just a Geek. Great stuff - the struggles with HTML and everything else in life really resonated.

5. Google AdWords Copy Test: BetterPPC Rocks

Last week, I tested the free trial of BetterPPC, a patent pending test process to simplify the testing and refining of your PPC campaigns.

Anyhow, I tried it out to compare the results I was seeing in a campaign I've been running for quite some time.

I'd tweaked it here and there on my own, and never see a big spike or dip.

With BetterPPC, I am nearing the end of my free trial, and it's looking like approximately 3x increase in performance.

That's huge to me, as I'm finding so much more volume in a niche that I haven't been able to grow in for some time. Are you affiliates listening?

Plus, with Google's recent announcement that it's requiring lower-performing ads to pay higher CPCs to remain active, I think BetterPPC is something you definitely ought to check out.

If you'd like to get a complimentary test of BetterPPC, visit them at http://www.betterppc.com/ and use coupon code: AFFTIP

I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a line and let me know if you have any suggestions or questions.

Take care,
Shawn Collins
